Privacy Policy
Effective date:
Conversation Starters World is operated by YUL LLC, a company registered in Florida, USA. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean YUL LLC. We are responsible for the personal information we process to run this site.
For privacy questions or requests, email cbdaniels@conversationstartersworld.com.
Information we use
When you visit the site
Cloudflare hosts and delivers the site. Requests for pages, images and other files include technical information such as your IP address, the requested address, browser information and the time of the request. Hosting and security services use this information to deliver the site, detect abuse and investigate faults. A request can contain the address of the page you came from, depending on your browser settings.
When you email us
We receive your email address, your message and any name or attachments you send. We use these to answer you and deal with your request. We use Namecheap Private Email (privateemail.com) to deliver and store these messages. You do not have to email us to use the questions or downloads. Please send only the information needed for your request.
When you use the question tools
Search, Random and Copy run in your browser. These tools do not ask you to submit your answers to the questions. Copy places your selected text on your clipboard when you use the Copy control.
Saved keeps references to your chosen questions in this browser. It does not create an account or send a saved list to a CSW account. To display a saved question, the browser may request a content file from our site. Like other file requests, this can appear in hosting records. Anyone who uses the same browser profile may be able to see your Saved list.
Site traffic and performance
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to measure page visits and page speed. Its browser script sends visit and performance information to Cloudflare so we can find slow pages and understand how the site is used. Cloudflare says this service does not track people across its customers' sites and does not log URL query strings. Hosting and security records are separate, as explained above. See Cloudflare's collection details and Web Analytics questions and answers.
We also use Google Analytics to understand which pages people visit and how they use the site. With your permission, it receives information such as page addresses, visit duration, referral information, browser and device details, approximate location and online identifiers. It uses cookies to distinguish visits. This information can be personal information even when it does not include your name.
Our Google Analytics measurement starts after you allow it in the privacy controls. Use Update Privacy Settings to change that choice. Our setup removes query strings and fragments from page addresses sent to Analytics and sends only the referring site's origin. It does not send your list-search text, Saved list or personal answers. Google explains its processing in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.
Cookies and browser storage
Saved uses local storage, a small store of data in your browser. It keeps question identifiers and page references, rather than your personal answers. The list has no automatic expiry. Use Remove for an individual item or Clear in Saved to empty the list. You can also delete the site's data in your browser settings. Clearing browser data can remove your saved list and privacy preferences.
Google Analytics and advertising services use cookies and similar technology as described in this policy. The privacy controls also store your choices so they can apply them on later visits. Browser settings can block or delete cookies, but deleting them does not delete information a provider has already received.
Advertising and your choices
We use Mediavine to manage advertising. Mediavine and its partners process device, browsing and advertising information to deliver and measure ads, prevent fraud and, where permitted, personalize ads. Some partners use this information for their own purposes. The vendor notice below explains this in more detail.
Mediavine's script also loads Grow. Grow is a separate Mediavine service and can process browsing and device information for its features and advertising. If you choose to use a Grow account or feature, Mediavine's Ad Management Platform & Grow User privacy notice explains its processing and your choices. Our Search and Saved tools do not require a Grow account.
Use the Update Privacy Settings button to review or change the choices available in your region. Where consent is required, you can refuse optional purposes or withdraw consent through these controls. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before you withdrew it. You may still see ads after refusing personalization. Refusal does not necessarily stop every request to an advertising or privacy service.
Advertising disclosures may describe some data sharing as a “sale,” “sharing,” or “targeted advertising” under applicable US state laws. Where those laws apply, use the privacy controls to exercise the relevant opt-out, or contact us for help. See Your privacy rights for other requests.
The control can be called Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information in US states with applicable privacy laws. Its name and available choices depend on your region.
Why we process information
We use information to deliver and secure the site, measure visits and page performance, provide the tools you request, answer messages, operate advertising and meet legal obligations.
Where European or UK data protection law applies, our legal grounds depend on the purpose. We rely on our legitimate interests to deliver and protect the site and respond to ordinary inquiries, while taking your rights into account. We rely on consent for optional cookies and advertising purposes where the law requires it, and on a legal obligation when we must keep or disclose information by law. Other grounds or exemptions can apply to storage needed to provide a feature you request.
Who receives information
Our hosting and security provider, Cloudflare, Google Analytics, Namecheap Private Email, and Mediavine and its advertising partners receive information needed for their services. We may disclose information when required by law or where necessary to protect legal rights and investigate misuse. If ownership of the site changes, relevant records may transfer with the business, subject to applicable data protection law.
These services can process information in the United States and other countries. Data protection laws can differ from those in your country. Where applicable law requires protection for a transfer, the transfer must have a lawful basis, such as an adequacy decision or approved contractual safeguards. Contact us for information about the safeguards that apply to your information and how to obtain a copy.
For provider details, see Cloudflare's privacy policy, Mediavine's privacy notices, the Mediavine partner list, and Private Email's privacy policy. Links to other websites take you to services with their own privacy practices.
How long information is kept
Our Google Analytics retention settings are two months for event data and 14 months for user data. The retention period for a user identifier resets when Analytics records new activity from that user. These settings do not limit how long standard aggregated reports are available. See Google's retention guidance.
We keep correspondence for as long as needed to answer the request, handle related follow-up and meet legal or record-keeping duties. A dispute or legal requirement can require longer retention. Hosting, security and advertising providers have separate retention periods for service records, fraud prevention and legal duties. The provider notices and advertising controls give further information.
Your Saved list stays in your browser until you remove it or the browser clears it. Deleting that list does not delete separate hosting, email or advertising records. We take reasonable measures to protect information, but no internet service or email system can guarantee complete security.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live and which law applies, you may have the right to access information about you, correct it, request its deletion or receive a portable copy. You may also have rights to restrict processing, withdraw consent, or opt out of certain advertising uses. Where provided by law, you may use an authorized agent, appeal a refused request and exercise your rights without unlawful discrimination.
Right to object
Where European or UK data protection law applies, you can object to processing based on our legitimate interests for reasons related to your situation. Email us at the address below. We will consider your objection and explain any lawful grounds for continuing the processing.
Making a request or complaint
Send requests or appeals to cbdaniels@conversationstartersworld.com. Describe your request and the email address or interaction it concerns. We may ask for enough information to verify your identity or an agent's authority. We will respond within the period required by the law that applies, explain any lawful exception, and tell you about further appeal or complaint options. We do not need you to send identity documents unless they are necessary for verification.
You can complain to a data protection regulator. In the European Economic Area, this can be the authority in the country where you live, work or believe an infringement occurred; see the European Data Protection Board's authority list. In the UK, you can contact the Information Commissioner's Office. You do not have to contact us first.
Children and personal information
Some question lists can be used with children. Adults should choose material suited to their group. The question tools do not require children to provide names, contact details or personal answers. Do not email us personal information about a child unless it is needed to deal with a request.
If you believe we have received a child's personal information when we should not have, email us at the address above. We will investigate and take the action required by applicable law, including deletion where required.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy when our services or data practices change and show the date of the update. Where required, we will give further notice or ask for consent before a new use. Please contact us if a part of this policy is unclear.

Mediavine serves content and advertisements when you visit the Website, which may use first and third-party cookies. For more information about cookies and how to disable them, you can consult the information at All About Cookies.
Without cookies you may not be able to take full advantage of the Website content and features. Please note that rejecting cookies does not mean that you will no longer see ads when you visit our Site. In the event you opt-out, you will still see non-personalized advertisements on the Website.

Mediavine Partners (companies listed below with whom Mediavine shares data) may also use this data to link to other end user information the partner has independently collected to deliver targeted advertisements. This data includes usage data, cookie information, device information, information about interactions between users and advertisements and websites, geolocation data, traffic data, and information about a visitor’s referral source to a particular website.
