Pick a word, keep it secret, and see what your drawing skills can get away with. Choose from 724 words and drawing prompts, play a timed game, or print cards for later.

Paper and a pen · One shared device · Team play or casual turns

All 724 prompts and the rules are below. If the game does not load, choose a word for the drawer, use your own timer, and keep scores on paper.

How to play

These are our house rules for a drawing game without a board. If you have a boxed Pictionary game, use the instructions for your edition.

  1. Get paper and a pen. Make two or more teams, with a drawer and a guesser on each team. Choose Play a game. The default is two teams, three turns each, and 60 seconds per turn.
  2. Pass the device to the drawer. Choose Reveal word, then Cover & start before the rest of the group can see it. This starts the timer.
  3. Draw clues while your team guesses. For this version, do not speak clues or write letters or numbers.
  4. Choose Guessed it for a correct answer. With the default settings, this gives your team one point and ends the turn. Skip word gives you another prompt with the time you have left. There is no skip penalty by default. End turn moves on without adding a point.
  5. Change drawers each turn. The highest score after all turns wins. Equal scores are a tie. Use Game options if you need to undo a turn.

Agree before you start whether close answers count. For a scene or expression, decide whether you need the exact phrase or just the same idea.

Find your next drawing prompt

Start with objects for a single thing to draw. Try actions, scenes, or expressions when your group wants a different kind of challenge. Prompt type is separate from difficulty.

A few things that help

Can two or three people play?

Take turns drawing and guessing together. Use Get a word and keep a shared score, or leave the score out. The team game needs at least two teams with someone to draw and someone to guess.

How do I print cards?

Choose a set, then Make cards. Pick A4 or US Letter and select Print cards. Cut along the dashed lines. You can also choose Save as PDF in your browser’s print window if it supports that option.

For a shorter pack, select individual prompts from the lists first. Keep the cards face down so the guessers cannot see the answers.

Can we play remotely?

Share your drawing area over your usual video call. Keep the prompt on a separate phone or outside the shared window. This game uses one device for the words and score; it does not create online rooms.

What if I am terrible at drawing?

Start with the main shape or action. Add details that separate it from similar things. A rough outline can be enough; shading can wait. Your team needs to guess it, not frame it.
